Mentor, Department of Design

Dear Visitors,

Welcome to the Department of Design at Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (RIT), Rajaramnagar. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to our department, established in 2026 with a vision to nurture creative thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and socially responsible design professionals.

Design today is much more than aesthetics, it is a strategic process that drives innovation, enhances user experiences and addresses complex challenges across industries and society. Our Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) program offers specializations in Product Design, Communication Design, UI & UX Design, Fashion & Textile Design, and Interior Design. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to integrate creativity, technology, culture, sustainability and human-centered design principles, enabling students to develop meaningful and impactful solutions for real-world challenges.

The department emphasizes studio-based learning, experiential pedagogy, interdisciplinary collaboration and industry engagement to provide students with a holistic educational experience. Supported by experienced faculty from institutes of national repute, students are mentored to explore their creative potential through design studios, live projects, research, innovation, prototyping and industry interactions. We strive to cultivate critical thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, ethical values and a lifelong passion for learning.

At the Department of Design, we believe that great designers are not only skilled professionals but also responsible innovators who contribute positively to society. Our goal is to prepare graduates who are capable of leading change across diverse sectors while creating sustainable, user-centric and impactful design solutions.

I invite you to explore our department and discover the opportunities that await aspiring designers at RIT. Together, let us shape ideas into meaningful experiences and design a better future.

With best wishes,

Prof. Prakash M. Jadhav
