Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering emerged during the industrial revolution and continues to expand and evolve to encompass advancements in current technology. This broad base of knowledge prepares mechanical engineering graduates for employment in a wide variety of companies, industries and organizations around the globe. The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1987 with a view to become a center of excellence in the field of mechanical engineering. It currently offers two undergraduate programs (B.Tech.) and three postgraduate programs (M. Tech.). All eligible programs are accredited by NBA. The department is well packed with highly motivated and dedicated faculties to impart quality education in parallel with research. Well-equipped labs help to solve problems related to vibration, tribology, mechatronics, experimental stress analysis and so on. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to our department, a centre of excellence in engineering education, research, innovation, and industry engagement. Our NBA-accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, outcome-based education, and learner-centric approach are supported by a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dynamic faculty members committed to academic excellence, research, and professional development.
The department offers state-of-the-art laboratories and Centres of Excellence in emerging areas such as Technical Textile, Additive Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, and Industrial Automation, providing an excellent ecosystem for experiential learning and cutting-edge research. We are well-equipped with state-of-the-art, high-technology laboratories, including the Tribology Laboratory, Vibration Laboratory, and Additive Manufacturing Laboratory. Our vibrant research culture is reflected through 400+ SCI/Scopus-indexed publications, funded research projects, consultancy, patents, and strong industry collaborations. We also foster innovation and entrepreneurship through incubation support, startup mentoring, and technology-driven initiatives that encourage students and faculty to transform ideas into impactful solutions.
Beyond academics, we emphasize the holistic development of our students through technical clubs and professional societies, including Team Nequit, Go-Kart Team, SAE, and other innovation and entrepreneurship activities.
