About Department :

Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and biggest department of the institute. Department was established in 1983 with intake capacity of 60 which is now increased to 200+ including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. While managing this increased strength which is an urgent need of the industry, department is committed to well being and all round development of its students. At present, department offers two undergraduate program and three postgraduate programs.

In addition to this, the department is also a centre of research of Shivaji University, Kolhapur to carry doctoral research in mechanical engineering. The prime motto of all the programs is to provide globally competent technical manpower to industry, academia and research institutes for upliftment of social life. Most of the students of the department end up taking leading positions in industry, academia, research institutes and in government sector. 

The department is well packed with highly motivated and dedicated faculties to import quality education in parallel with research. Research culture in the department has produced signifact numbers of research publications and patents. The department has very good interaction with the industry. Department also provides consultancy in various thrust areas like machine design, test rig, vibration, experimental stress analysis, FEA etc. All eligible programs are accredited by NBA.
