Director’s Message: A United Stand Against Ragging
It is a matter of pride that the RIT campus remains free from ragging. However, I urge every student to remember the anti-ragging affidavit signed by you and your parents, and to uphold its spirit with sincerity and responsibility.
Ragging, often disguised as a form of “welcoming” new students, is a deeply harmful and unacceptable practice. Under the guise of tradition, it gives some individuals the excuse to inflict psychological and physical harm on their juniors. The consequences can be devastating: victims may suffer long-term trauma, withdraw from social life, or even abandon their academic journey before it begins.
For students who have worked tirelessly to earn a place in RIT, ragging is not just a betrayal—it is a violation of their dignity and rights. In today’s context, ragging has escalated into a serious human rights issue, affecting even the most respected educational institutions.

Ragging has no place in RIT’s campus culture. Let us continue to foster an environment of mutual respect, inclusion, and support. Every student deserves to feel safe and valued from the moment they step onto RIT campus.
If you witness or experience any form of ragging, please speak up.
