ELITE (Emerging Leaders of Information Technology)

The student association is the committee of the students formed by the students for the students. The Students Association is formed in the department with the name "ELITE" (Emerging Leaders of Information Technology) this year.

Year 2016-17

Two Days Machine Learning Workshop

  • The Student Association (ELITE) of Information Technology Department have organized Two Days of workshops on Machine learning and deep Learning with OPEN CV. The Session were conducted by Ajinkya Ghadage Software engineer from Persistent System Pune. And Mr. Shashikant Ghangare Junior Research Fellow at Research Center Imarat DRDO. There were 30 students participated from different departments of RIT. 
  • The objective of workshop was student need to gain exposure and new ideas that aware them about new technology based on deep learning and Machine learning, OpenCV using Python, Scikit Learn, Object recognition using imagenet, Hello world of machine learning.

 

Two days Advanced Web Designing using Bootstrap workshop

The Student Association of Information Technology Department had successfully completed Two Days workshop on “Advanced Web Designing using Bootstrap" on 16th and 17th March 2017. The Sessions were conducted by Mr.  Vishal Shah, Disha Computer Education Sangli, have experienced more than 10 years on the same platform. Students from S.Y. and T.Y were found more energetic to learn the advanced concept used to design dynamic and more interactive web applications. The workshop initiated with benefits of Bootstrap in brief and finally ended by demonstrating dynamic web programming.This is also applicable for developing their projects.

Smart India Hackthon Competition 2017

'Smart India Hackathon 2017' is a pan India 36 hour nonstop digital programming competition. The participating teams will simultaneously compete from across 33 locations in India to offer digital yet sustainable innovative solutions to solve real time challenges faced by the nation.Team ZENITH of Information Technologysecure the 4th rank and won the PERSISTENT INSPIRATION AWARD in the SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2017 held at MANIPAL UNIVERSITY, KARNATAKA, on 1st and 2nd April 2017.

  • Though ELITE with co-ordination of NSS giving IT Education to ZP school students (sakharale).
  • Arranged Elocution at Institute level
  • Under quantum 2016 a national level Technical symposium department organized one day technical event called as “Crazy coder”.
  • Farewell function arranged for BTech Student.
  • Carried out successfully Elocution at institute level competition
  • Published InfoTech News Letters which is prepared by the student for the student.

  • Organised Fresher’s Party on 10th Sep 2014.
  • Celebrated Teachers day on 5th Sept 2014 with Advocate Sambaji Mohite Karad and Prof. M.L. Deshpande & inaugurated Placement Club at our Department.
  • Organised Guest lecture titled “Social Responsibilities of Youths to   Society” on 5th Sept 2014, resource person is a great Personality Advocate Sambaji Mohite, Karad.
  • Published 4 InfoTech News Letters which is prepared by the student for the student.

 Year 2013-14

  • Inauguration of ELITE and fresher's welcome party was organized through ELITE dated 13th Aug 2013.
  • A motivational lecture of Prof. P.P. Deshpande, Dean R&D, RIT was arranged for S.Y, T.Y and B.E Students on the occasion of Departmental Event Day on 5th Oct. 2013.
  • “Let’s Know IT” Social Activity was organized for High School and Junior college students on 4th Oct 2013.  The main objective of this activity is to create awareness among High School and Junior college students about Information Technology.
  • Continued publishing news letter six weekly by the students through ELITE as "INFO-TECH". Total 4 Issues are published in this 2013-14 Academic Year and uploaded onto the Department MOODLE Server.
  • Organized and conducted a one day Department  level event "Swa-Yudh" on 5th Oct 2013. Overwhelming response from the students was there for this event.
     

 Year 2012-13

  • Inauguration of ELITE and fresher's welcome party was organized through ELITE dated 24th Aug 2012.
  • A motivational lecture of Prof. Mulla, Mechanical Departmetn, RIT was arranged for TE, BE Students on the occasion of Teacher's Day on 5th Sept. 2012.
  • An "EYE DOANTION and EYE CHECKING CAMP" was organized through ELITE on the occasion of Engineer's Day on 15th Sept.2012 to promote social awareness amongst the student community of our Institute. This camp was organized in association with Lion's Club's Jayant Netralaya, Islampur. Total 300 students and faculties had taken the benefit of Eye Checking and 20 people had registered for eye donation. The Publication of "Info-Tech" Newsletter , Sept. 2012 is done on this day.
     

CSI (Computer Society of India)

 Year 2016-17

In association with Computer Society of India, the department of Information Technology has organized two days workshop on “Software Testing: Basics to Advance” is conducted on 18th and 19th Feb 2017 by Mr. Millan Kaul, Technical Test Lead at Tech Mahindra,  Pune and Ms. Pooja Jangid, Senior Subject Matter Expert at Amdocs, Pune. This workshop aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry and bring the latest technologies in the hands of students and faculty. In academics, students have to complete mini-projects and mega projects for their degree where they need to develop the software system but proper testing of the system does not take place. This workshop will create the awareness about the defects and errors that were made during the development phases.

Annual convention “Infotsav” is organized by the department of Information Technology under Comuter Society of India on 3rd and 4th   March 2017. It consists of various technical and non technical events like Campus to Corporate, Assembler, Infine Loop, SQL Master, Pratibha (exclusively for girls) and some non technical events like Tech Flash, Carrom, Mini Militia, etc. The aim is to give opportunity to students to develop their personalities by participating in activities which are outside the normal curriculum. It encourages the students to participate in different competitions and develop the habit of constructive competition. This convention also helps them to develop the capacity of organizing events and enable them for managerial and leadership activities. In this event 200 plus students have participated from various engineering colleges such as Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, etc districts.

Year 2015-16

Computer Society of India is the first and largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6th March 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body.  It has 72 chapters across India, 511 student branches, and more than 100,000 members. The Computer Society of India is a non-profit professional meet to exchange views, information and ideas. The Society also encourages and assists professionals to maintain integrity and competence of the profession. We have stared our 1st CSI student branch at RIT in 2010. Currently we have around 90 CSI members which includes undergraduate and post graduate students. In association with Computer Society of India, we at RIT regularly organize workshops, seminars, and technical talks for the benefit of students.

 Year 2014-15

  • Under the CSI chapter  “Open Discussion on Final Year B. Tech Project” was conducted on 19th July 2014 by Mr. Arun Kadekodi  CEO, Soft corner Ltd., Pune  and Mr. Vedprakash Dubhe Director of Engg., RiseSmart Technologies, Pune.
  • Two days workshop on “Basics of Android” on 31st Jan2015 to 1st Feb 2015 by Mr. Anshumal Sen, CEO Semat Excellence Center Pune under CSI.
  • In association with CSI Pune chapter and lead college activity of Shivaji University, Kolhapur we have organized a National level technical event “Technosphere 2k15” on 27th and 28th  February 2015. 600 students from various engineering colleges from Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur district have participated in his event.
  • The workshop on “Cloud Computing and Virtualization” is conducted on 27th  February by Mr. Mithilesh Pande from Geeks Lab Technologies, New Delhi. The technical and non-technical events like Idea Presentation, Zenith, Technohunt, CodeBlitz, LAN Legacy were conducted on 28th February 2015.
